Most of Dysart's roads are subject to "reduced load periods" during the spring thaw when roads are weakest and most susceptible to heavy truck damage. Reduced load periods reduce the allowable weight of a vehicle to 5,000kg per axle while roads are posted. Vehicles exceeding these restrictions will be subject to penalties under the Highway Traffic Act, Section 122.
In Dysart, reduced load periods, also known as "seasonal load restrictions", start on Monday, March 10, 2025.
Exemptions to the reduced load period include:
- Municipal vehicles engaged in highway maintenance
- Fire apparatus
- Vehicles used for transporting waste on behalf of a municipality
- Public utility emergency vehicles
