Seasonal Load Restrictions start March 10, 2025

Most of Dysart's roads are subject to "reduced load periods" during the spring thaw when roads are weakest and most susceptible to heavy truck damage. Reduced load periods reduce the allowable weight of a vehicle to 5,000kg per axle while roads are posted. In Dysart, reduced load periods -- also known as "seasonal load restrictions" -- start on Monday, March 10, 2025. Exemptions to the reduced load period include:

Municipal vehicles engaged in highway maintenance

Fire apparatus

Vehicles used for transporting waste on behalf of a municipality

Public utility emergency vehicles

To apply for a road or sidewalk closure for a special event, please fill out the Special Events Permit for Roads and Sidewalks.

You will need to download the Map of Haliburton and attach it to the form on page 5 after indicating the streets required for closure, the direction of the route to be travelled, noting locations of barricades/cones (if applicable) and traffic control persons.
